Set it up in 3 steps
Add your spots
Drop a pin where you actually ride. The forecast is for your pin, not the town nearby.
Set your conditions
Wind, gusts, direction, waves: you define what a good session looks like, for your sports, on your spots.
Then stop checking
SurfSignal takes over from here. One notification a day. Glance ahead any time. No noise.
The best forecast models, read your way
High resolution forecasts on your exact pin, hourly, up to ten days out, with new model data picked up as often as every 15 minutes. Wind, gusts, waves, tide and swell in one table, and every hour marked against your conditions. You read the answer, not the weather.

Forecasts predict. Stations measure.
Live measured wind from 27 national weather networks, right next to your forecast, with the station's distance to your pin and the age of the reading always shown. And where a spot has a verified cam, you see the water before you load the car.

As picky as you are
Only weekends? Only after work? Only daylight? Set the hours that count, the days that count and how many good hours in a row a session needs. No beginner or intermediate presets: you know your spots, you set the numbers, and SurfSignal only calls it a go when your rules hold.

Your week, planned in seconds
The agenda lines up every matching window for the days ahead, filtered by sports and spots. Pick the sessions you want and save them straight into your own calendar, Google, iCloud or Outlook, each with the spot, your conditions and a route link in the event.
Planning sessions into your calendar is part of Super. The agenda itself is free.

You set the rhythm. We keep watch.
Every day at your chosen time, SurfSignal takes the freshest forecast and checks it against your conditions. When they hold, you get one clear signal. When they don't, you hear nothing. Steady as a metronome, never more than one a day.
Run a school, shop or club?
Half your inbox is one question: when can we go? SurfSignal answers it for you. Share your spots preset with the right conditions for a lesson or the gear a customer is buying, and everyone gets one clear signal when it's on: they book sooner, you stop playing weatherman in the group chat. Your spots also carry your name inside the app, listed under Partners on the map, so anyone searching for you finds them and adds them with your presets in a tap. Comes with your own partner page and a live widget for your website.
Schools tell us students rebook sooner. Trusted by schools, clubs and shops across Europe. Integrated with Viking Bookings: paste your partner id once and your spots load straight into your booking environment.
SurfSignal for partnersWhat the magazines say
“Studying weather charts, comparing models and analysing changes in wind, gusts, swell, waves and tides across multiple spots, so as not to miss the best conditions. The new SurfSignal app now bundles all these checks into a single service.”
“Every wind app does the same thing: it shows you the forecast and leaves the decision to you. SurfSignal makes the opposite bet.”

Frequently asked questions
Does it work at my spot?
Yes, anywhere in the world. There is no fixed list of spots to pick from: you place a pin exactly where you ride, and the forecast is calculated for that point rather than the nearest town. Live wind and live cams appear where coverage exists, and coverage grows every month.
Who decides what counts as good conditions?
You do, and only you. There are no beginner or intermediate presets, no house opinion on what a good day looks like. You know your spot, your gear and your level, so you set the numbers: wind range, gusts, direction, waves, swell, tide, temperature, the hours and days that count. SurfSignal is your own check routine, running while you get on with your day.
Are my spots visible to anyone else?
No. SurfSignal is not a community app: there are no profiles, no feeds and no public list of spots, so nobody can browse where you ride. Local breaks stay local. The only spots other people see are partner spots, which schools and clubs publish deliberately, and any spot you choose to share with a link.
Which forecast models does SurfSignal use?
The highest resolution model available at your pin. Wind comes from the regional model that covers your coast, for example KNMI HARMONIE in the Netherlands, AROME HD in France, ICON D2 in Germany, the UK Met Office model in the UK and HRRR in the US, stitched to global models like ECMWF and GFS beyond their range. Waves, swell and tide come from dedicated marine models. Which model you end up with is our call, not a setting you have to learn: knowing which one holds up in which region and at which range is a job in itself, so we weigh resolution, update frequency and regional accuracy per spot and pick up new model data as often as every 15 minutes. You get one forecast you can act on instead of a jungle of models to compare.
Can I set different conditions for different sports on one spot?
Yes. Add a condition set per discipline on the same spot, for example one for kitesurfing and one for wingfoiling. Each has its own thresholds and is evaluated separately, so there is no need to add the same spot twice.
How do alerts work?
You choose a time of day. At that moment SurfSignal pulls the latest model data, checks every hour of your forecast against the conditions you set, and sends one notification if there is a match. An hour matches only when all your conditions are met, and a single notification covers every matching spot. At most one a day, and you can also choose to hear it on days with no match.
Where does the live wind come from?
Measured stations from 27 national weather networks, with airport stations filling the gaps in about 200 countries. Every reading is credited to its source, and a station without gust data shows no gust: we never invent a number a sensor did not produce.
Which sports is it for?
Kitesurfing, wingfoiling, windsurfing, surfing, foiling, SUP, sailing, fishing: any sport that depends on wind or water. You set the conditions that matter for your sport.
Is SurfSignal free?
Yes. Two spots, a seven day window, the full alert engine, live wind and live cams. No ads. Super adds more spots, a ten day window, finer matching controls and calendar sync for €1.99 a month or €19.99 a year. Going back to Free deletes nothing: spots above the free limit are set aside and come back with Super.
Do I need an account?
No. Install the app, add a spot, done. No email, no password, no login.
