Partner Kit: must read for partners!
Let’s make sure you and your customers make the best of what SurfSignal has to offer. Below you will find all required information to set you up perfectly!
1. Your Partner Page: share this with your audience
Once you become a partner you immediately get access your own public partner page. You can find the link to your page in the app settings. It looks like this:
“https://surf-signal.com/p/{your partner id}/”
This is “the” page to direct your user to. From here your customers can download your shared spots to their device. Once installed they will get notified when the conditions that you set, match. They also have immediate access to all your public info in the app, so make sure your profile is complete.
If you also add your logo link in the app Settings then this will be used on your public partner page. If you have any trouble here: just mail it to info@surf-signal.com along with your partner id.
2. Your own weather widget I-frame: load this on your site
Want to load your own weather widget on your website – including the daily match results?
Use the i-frame below and fill in your “partner-id” (to be found in the app settings, behind the link “https://surf-signal.com/p/{your partner id}/”. You can customize the widget by following the instructions below. (by default all of your spots will be loaded. If you only want to load one of your spots then email info@surf-signal.com to acquire your specific data-spot-id’s so that you can use that in your script)

data-carousel-ms=”6000″
data-width=”100%”
data-max-width=”1250px”

3. Print your partner page details for easy access, everywhere
On your public partner page you can find a “print” button. This will load a print-optimized partner page, including simple to follow instructions and your personal partner QR code. This will inform and direct your customers to download your shared spots.
Print it and hang it anywhere relevant to your customers (kantine / changing room / bus, bar,…). Your customers can immediately scan the code, land on your partner page and install your spots.
4. Share through the app
The app has a native per spot share button that will either enable a link or a QR code; this is easy to share with people that are not in your device contact list. Just share the link or let them scan the QR code: they will be guided to your shared spot.
If you want to guide them to your partner page, then go to the settings and share the QR from there.
5. Your device is King
Any of the following changes you make will immediately be reflected on your public partner page, on the partner map in the app and in the public widget. However, they will not be reflected on devices that already installed your partner spots (they belong to them now, albeit with your public title and info). So make sure you configure them right before you start sharing. Anyone you share with after the changes you make will automatically get the new version.
So keep this in mind: your device is mirrored to the partner page, in app and in the widget, every time:
- You open the app and trigger a data-refresh
- You add a spot
- You edit a spot and its conditions
- You change your public information in the settings
- Any change you make to the settings criteria (consecutive hours, forecast range, etc)
The following settings are not mirrored when a user installs a shared spot because these are “device settings”. If any of these settings are of importance to you then you must manually pass them on to the receiver:
- Consecutive match hours (default 1)
- Relevant hours (default 9-21)
- Forecast window (default 10)
- Weekdays (default all)
- Units
Tip: note them in your public information.
6. Account recovery
When you become a partner, you’ll receive a recovery code. Save it, you’ll need it when switching devices or restoring your account.
There are two scenarios:
1. Your spots are visible, but partner settings are locked
Go to Settings → “Recover your account” and enter your Partner ID and recovery code.
2. You switched devices and see no spots
First, re-add your own partner spots from the map. Then go to Settings → “Recover your account” and enter your details.
If you’ve lost your Partner ID or recovery code, contact info@surf-signal.com and we’ll help you recover it.
After recovery, all spots on your device that you own will be promoted to partner spots. Any of your spots not present on the device at that moment will be removed from the map.
